ZAMI wins the ‘topper’ in Den Haag!

[by Umer After our game got cancelled last week due to Hercules not able to come up with a team, we finally had a game to play against VCC whom we share the top of the table with both 8 played, 6 wins and 2 losses! The last time VCC lost was againts us in a thriller! After this game VCC is on a unbeaten run of 6 wins in a row! A day before the game the captain informed VCC would be playing with a player who plays in the 2nd team and 1e Klasse with the dispensation approved by KNCB and as per the rules allowed to bowl 3 overs and bat after #9, no problem for us as VCC needed the player to help them get 11 and when arriving at VCC and speaking to the captain he informed the player with dispensation is S. De Leede. After winning the toss we decided to field first and with zami debutants, Sonny, Ammar and Jake with Ezzat making it 11 for the zami a good allround squad and the captain thinking he is missing a bowler or 2, we started of with Sonny and Ammar who each bowled 2 good overs and with batter #9 in mind the first and second change was made quick and Zuby and Rahul were brought in and i could talk for ages about how good Rahul and Zuby bowled especially Rahul! Who never bowled 7 overs before and did this 7 overs in a row for 19 runs and 3 wickets and only 1 wide! Zuby with 7-22-1 also had a good spell! The first boundary was hit in the 26th over of the match! and when #9 finally came in on his first ball he was almost caught behind, got a single, Abu comes to bowl, bowls one far on leg for wide and then the 2nd one outside off, batter hits hard, hard in the hand of point fielder Yosi and #9 was gone for 1! In 32 overs VCC was all out for 95! 3 good run outs! Good keeping from the new zami keeper Akhil! And good bowling from everyone!

After a very good and nice lunch we still had to make 96 runs to win the match and be top of the table with 2 points apart of the #2.

With some bad shot choices and one unlucky run out, we lost 5 wickets but with a brilliant in form Jake just back from the Moreton trainingscamp giving us and the crowd some good shots but shot of the day was the straight long six off the bowling of the dispensation player finishing any hopes VCC had to a comeback finishing it within 18 overs making 97 for 5. Man of the match Rahul and Jake!

Next week Bloemendaal away , 3 games to go, Zami’s on top! Lets stay on top! 😀
