| WELCOME TO THE AMSTERDAM CRICKET CLUB (ACC) The Club, formed in 1921, is a friendly, social and successful club, based in the Amsterdam/Amstelveen area. We have 3 pitches available at the week-end but only one during the week since we share the grounds with a golf club. A completely open club, with a thriving social scene, we continually welcome new members, whether seeking high quality Sunday league cricket or the gentler delights of a Saturday afternoon friendly, there is a team for everyone. From our Sunday league teams, the 1st XI are playing in the KNCB Topklasse. The 2s and 3s play in competitive divisions, providing a high standard of cricket throughout the Club. ACC 4 has a long standing reputation as providers of excellent social cricket. On Saturdays ACC is well represented by a Dames team, the effervescent Veterans and the fun loving but deadly serious Zami’s. There is an extensive Colt’s section catering for children from the ages of 8 to 17, with the older ones joining the seniors as soon as they are ready. There are weekly training sessions, at the Club, with regular League and Cup matches too. For the youngest ones (Basic School age) we organise a Tip & Run competition on Thursday evenings starting at 18.30. On Saturday morning we have five teams in action: 1 x U9, 1x U10, 2x U11 en 1x U13. U9 (6 against 6) and U10 (8 against 8) play in the EBAB-competition (EveryBodyBatsAndBowls). They play with a soft ball and plastic bats. Everyone gets an equal share of the action. A game lasts 2x12 overs at U9 and 2x 16 overs at U10 (1 over = 6 balls). Our U11 teams feature in the U11-Top-class, also with 8-man teams. They play with a proper cricketball and 'out=out'. Legguards, helmet and gloves are provided by the club; the obligatory protector is a private affair. Games in this competition last 2x20 overs. If you are coming from the north you can get onto the A9 from Ijmuiden. On the A9 take exit 4 which is marked Amstelveen – Oost and after the exit loop drive towards the Oranjebaan. This direction is signed as route S109. Follow this route sign onto the Beneluxbaan (parallel to the tramway) and continue until Kronenburg. There, turn right and continue to the parking place which is opposite a garden of rest. From the parking place it is a hundred meters walk to our clubhouse. |
