Sunday saw ACC2 at home for the return match against CCN (Nieuwegein). The first match, earlier this season, saw ACC scrape through on the pitch rolled by a car… remember that one?
By contrast, this match was played on the relatively benign ACC 2nd pitch. We won the toss and put CCN into bat. CCN were determined to attack, but good spells from our openers kept the run rate down and picked up a couple of wickets. With a little luck (and better catching) there could have been even more. After the initial attack, CCN went a bit quiet and then all of a sudden, the wickets started to tumble. All the bowlers bowled well, but the Kamboj brothers will take the plaudits with 5 wickets between them. CCN finally all out for 101.
The run chase was pretty straight forward, apparently Doekhie had aimed (much to the skippers displeasure) to have the match finished in 15 overs. The skipper did have to concede he was happy to see the runs knocked off for the loss of 1 wicket in 14 overs. Doekhie (52no) and Bassie (42no) doing their averages no harm either.
