ACC 3 - HTF 1 9 juli 2006
ACC 3 looking forward to meeting the second team in the competition with the full aim to extend the lead on the top. Captain winning the toss (second of the season), just as well I don’t go to casino’s.HTF was put in to bat after a brief rain and waiting for 10 minutes while Mr Shah was trying to get the Line Machine back to the ground from ladies. And someone yelled, who the hell send Mr Shah to the ladies ground, we might have to wait here all day now. At the same time, one of the HTF player, with long hair big eyes talking to himself and sometimes to ACC players with glaring eyes. Oh man some of us were scared ;) Finally the lines were ready and we were in the field.
The perfect start for ACC, the king of our bowling took his run up, a short ball outside off and a reasonably powerful cut by batsman trying to go over gully, oops he forgot there was standing a sharp fielder and he was walking towards pavilion. King running down the ground with happy emotions and the whole ACC team cheering up.
While we had a perfect start from one end, where the king bowled his first 5 overs only for 3 runs, bowling from the other end into the wind was becoming very difficult for and the opposition were scoring at a decent rate. Although we were getting the wickets at regular intervals, we could get rid of their hard hitting swinging batsman S. Singh who made 73 runs not out with some big hitting going to tennis grounds and also with some help of our fielders. Our fielding in this
game was not up the standard that we have put in place in first half of the season. However, still there were some beautiful moments where Hasrat was diving to stop the balls to his left and Lenny’s chase to the ball and catching with one hand on his own bowling. And as usual our Solid Keeper JW was as solid as ever. HTF got a score of 167 for 9 (in which 60 came in last 10 overs). From the bowling side, Zahid bowled extremely well 9 overs 3 for 20 and Lenny also bowled well but with not much luck 9 overs 2 for 42, Bart Sanderberg had figures of 2 for 26 in 5 overs in his first game for ACC 3(well done bart) and I contributed with wicket as well.Given our batting performances in most games (With the exception of the game against Kampong) the target was not looking too difficult. Hasrat was injured in the field so we sent our second opening specialist with the proven JW to open the proceedings for ACC. We lost our first wicket of Z Malik for a duck on the score of 9, and then Menno played on a ball moving away from him to see the catch by wicket keeper. ACC 2 for 9 in 4th over and in all sorts of problems. The game had to be won with much effort. I walked into bat with the intention of another big score to save the game. JW and my strategy were to settle in, rotate the strike and no stupid shots. Calling out loud for quick singles and doubles and three’s. The strategy was working very well from run rate perspective but no so good from the heat perspective and it didn’t help when our team mates forgot to arrange the water on time and we had to play another 2 overs. The result, JW got minor cramps and I did something to my groin. Anyway, cutting long story short, we went on our business rotating strike and taking quick singles (no quick two’s or three’s anymore). The effective running can be seen by the fact that in the 3rd wicket partnership of 131 runs there were only 3 boundaries. JW fell short of his 50 getting out on 43 and then I got out on 73 trying to play a stupid shot with my head on the sky and feet no where near the ball. However, we still had Mark Sarre and Bart and Hans as batsmen who made it with 5 overs to spare. Mark 19 not out hitting the winning runs again. S. Raza, 73, JW Gilijamse, 43, Mark Sarre, 19 not out
Shabsh shabash twee punten in the tas.
