Second Twenty20 win, this time against VRA!
The rescheduled match against VRA, from last Thursday 23th to to yesterday's 30th, was a mix of excitement, drama, laughter, hostility, competitiveness, you name it.
We went to VRA having in mind to get there with a good eleven member squad but soon found out that one of the eleven didn't find the need to call the captain that he couldn't make it. Unfortunate to let the team down like this.
Luckily, we find out that there was another ACC player wondering around and we had our 11th man: Robert (not Wolfe).
After winning the toss it was a fairly easy decision to field first in the given conditions.
The openingsbowlers started well until and hardly any runs were on the board.
After the 5th over, Mr. Rain stopped by for a while. It was a obvious decision to reduce the overs to 15th per inning.
With a wet outfield and pitch, it was difficult to bowl with a normal action and runs were flying all over the place.
A wet ball can make you juggle with the ball and still not catch it or stop it from reaching the boundary. Nice to see that we could see the funny part of it. End result was 128 in 15 overs for VRA...a bit less funny.
Now it was up to us to score that huge total with a wet pitch and outfield.
Fortunately, Mr. Extra came by and helped out VRA's openingbowlers and we got 23 runs in 2 overs.
Next thing, we were 50 in 5 overs with 2 wickets down.
Our own Umer, kept his head cool and kept playing his normal game but witnessed wickets falling on regular basis.
The required run rate rose to almost 10 an over so 40 runs were required from 4 overs.
In came Zeeshan, together with Umer they managed to score 22 runs in one over to silence down VRA. Huge momentum shift.
Both kept scoring until Zeeshan's wicket fell with only 8 runs required from 8 deliveries.
With Abid smashing a six and taking a single, Umer scored the final winning run and got 53 n.o.
The second Twenty20 win in the pocket.
Have to mention that I had mixed feelings playing against the club were my cricket started. After seeing my ex-captain, M.S., who didn't shake hands with any of our team members after the game, I'm glad to be a member of club with different values, ACC.
