Another fine win by ACC4.
The day didn't looked to be a good one, heavy showers were expected in the afternoon.
Losing the toss is mostly a sign to start worrying about whether to field or bat first.
Things were made easy by the opposition captain and we were send in to bat first...we took the opportunity with both hands.
The first few wickets (Zeddy (1) & Amir (11)) fell quickly and also with a little on the board: 40 runs.
Luckily Sanjay (68) & Ali (30) steadied the ship and kept batting until the 27th over with descent 138 on the board.
The target was set on atleast 200+ so still plenty of runs were required in the last 13 overs.
Well, to be short, we surpassed the score by miles. The firepower of Imran Aslam (26), Saqib (40) & Teja (22) made sure that we
scored 250 in the end.
The lady of Ajax also kept track of the dot balls and especially the hitting of Sanjay, Saqib & Teja was impressive, all around a strike rate of a 100.
The running between the wickets was usually very funny. Calls like, "Yes..no..Chall aa hi ja...." (kind of translation: Yes..No...Let's go anyway) were heard often.
Rain had already started a bit after our innings. With such a score, we wanted to start asap. We got onto the field knowing that we didn't have to worry much about defending the score, but focus on wickets and at least play for 25 overs.
Excellent start by Imran, taking the first two wickets within 3 overs. The rain was starting to get a bit heavier but we kept playing.
Batsmen no. 3 & 4 couldn't do much against the pace of Ali but didn't score either. Guy came into the attack and got Bat.4 out on a good delivery caught at midwicket. Soon after Bat.3 got run out by slipping on the wet grass. We had a friendly difference of opinion: they wanted to leave the field due to wetness of the grass, we advised the batsman to use proper cricketshoes instead of worn out running shoes.
We both agreed on each others views and after few overs batting we left the field. 15 overs were already played but still 10 overs to go for result.
Luckily it didn't rain that long so play continued. Their batsmen no 5 & 8 gave good resistance, not by scoring but by staying there until the 32nd over.
It was getting darker and again, rain came by the greet us. Pace didn't work as they just left the ball or defended.
In the end, it was Khurram's & Teja's bowling which did the trick to get them all out for 88 runs.
Won with a difference of 162 runs, excellent team effort and a good prospect for the upcoming matches.
Just some bowling figures:
Ali 8-3-20-0
Imran 6-3-10-2
Guy 6-3-15-2
Khurram 2-1-1-1
Teja 2.2-1-1-3
