ACC4 are champions!
Our last match against Qui Vive didn't really showed a champions-team. They bundled us all out for not many and no, it had nothing to do with any fixing.
The few highlights involved Zeddy in two occasions: highest scores and involved in two run-outs. I'm not saying he was the cause but he was present at the crime scene.
Second highlight was Omar's bowling, just marvelous: 10-1-24-1.
The other was Mr. Extra with his 75. Ofcourse we weren't really happy with him and I guess that's more than enough info about that game.
The game against Ajax had a more serious character because we had to re-assure the championship. They scored 149 against us and again Mr. Extra scored 50 from it.
It was a very much chaseable score especially on that pitch with the sun coming and drying up the pitch. In our bowling, I was very impressed with the bowlers because they all took wickets Omar (1), Shahjee (1), Guy (3), Khurram (1), Ali (1) and I (1). Unfortunately, Imran didn't but very much deserved it.
Special mentions of Omar's bowling: 8-1-18-1 and Shahjee the Great's bowling: 9-1-18-1.
The chase started really well with Zeddy having a new openingspartner Atif. The new combo worked, in 7 overs we had 40 on the board including a massive six by Atif and a few boundaries.
After a few wickets fell, Saqib then made sure that He and Zeddy lifted the score to 83 in the 22nd over.
An unfortunate runout or Imran, bad call by Zeddy, had him stranded short of his crease. Ali in at no6 had proved his quality with a boundary and two consecutive sixes which moved us to 120 in 26.
After Ali and me out, we still needed 27 runs when Khurram got in. A full toss was smacked over long-on for six and that was his off-the-mark shot. A few runs later, Zeddy still in, Khurram smacked a boundary to seal the victory. In the post-match conference, Zeddy didn't mind not getting his fifty (was 1 run short before Khurram hit that boundary) because winning was the target and the apologized for the bad call due to which Imran got out.
Because it's the end of the season, I've put down some stats and some other info of my players who were an important part of this ACC4.
Zahid Malik
Started his career as a batsman/spinner, became a spinner more than a batsman and now completely lost his bowling but finally took off as a solid consistent batsman.
I'm really impressed by him scoring the most runs 526 in the league together with and an excellent average of 52.60. Most memorable moment is his century against WCR. The moment he rather forgets, was his duck (runout) against Qui Vive.
Amir Saleem
Started playing clubcricket for the first time and impressed everyone, even the opposition with his acrobatics as a wicketkeeper. Did fairly well as a no.3 batsman and mostly in a supportive role.
Had an excellent debut, scoring 29 against Olympia, averages 10.00.
Khurram Tahir
For years now a solid part of the team, whether you call it ACC3 or (now) ACC4, he's there. Loves playing cricket and a jolly character on -and off the field.
His batting proved really helpful and has been not out four times. More impressive with the ball than the bat: bowled 11 overs in total and took 5 wickets this season.
Most memorable moments were getting wickets in his first over. The less memorable moment was the most runs conceded in one over against Qui Vive.
Zahid Shah
Shahjee the Great..don't know where to start and when to finish. Not really known for his batting, unless it's the Zami's, but his bowling, kya baat hai (=wow). Bowled 58 overs and averages 3.24. Nothing more to say the stats prove his greatness. O haan, I almost forgot to mention otherwise he'll haunt me for it, was his hattrick!
Imran Sheikh
As of this year, a permanent force in our side. One of the better point-fielders and has been sharp in the field almost always. Due to a shoulder injury most of the season, he emerged as a spinner more than as a pacer. Bowled 28 overs and took 10 wickets. Unfortunately his batting didn't click but he'll quadruple his average next season.
Saqib Chaudry
Started off as pacer last year, middle of the season switched to legspin and this year completely focussed on batting. Did a good job in building partnerships and highlight was his first match of the season, scoring 40 runs against Ajax. Averages just above the double digits but can and I know, will do much better next season.
Teja Avula
First time in Holland for studies and wanted to play some cricket. His commitment in the field and batting, increased with every match without exercise. In batting averages just below 10 but his highest of 22 against Ajax was a controlled and mature innings. His (spin)bowling resulted in 4 wickets in 9 overs.
Omar Raja
The late bloomer of our team, is playing first time clubcricket, has a dedication towards cricket beyond my imagination. Doesn't fancy batting but for him it's just bowling and it shows, averages 3.25 took 7 wickets and has bowled 56 overs. His sharp inswing usually cuts batsmen in half and next year the wickets will come too.
Guy Pathak
Guy had a dream start with the ball, taking wickets, bowling maidens and maintaining an average of 3. All went well until he pulled a muscle in his left wing. Luckily, he recovered good and by the end of the season he has bowled 37 overs, took 14 wickets, averages 3.25 and has a strikerate of 8.71!
Sanjay Mohan
Our Indian Idol singer, left Qui Vive for our club and showed his batting and bowling skills. With the bat, he shined in his first match against Ajax with his highest 68. Played only a few matches but averages a healthy 31.50, which drew ACC3's interest in him. Bowling wise, an economical bowler who bowled 18 overs with and average of 3.78 taking 5 wickets.
Atif Khan
Genuine allrounder, good with ball, bat and in the field. Batting wise, just under the Top10 in the KNCB 4th league ranking and averages 33.33 with his highest 65 against R&W. His 42 runs debut against Olympia was the more impressive one. Just a few balls in and he got hit by a bouncer, not wearing a helmet. He took on a helmet and whacked the same guy for sixes all over the place. A genuine Pakistani character. Bowling wise, averages 4.08 and bowled 29 overs with 8 wickets on his name.
Ali Rashid
Another genuine allrounder of our team. Aggression and speed are his trademarks. Perhaps some would say a bit too much but I like it and it's a mark of a genuine pace openingsbowler and a aggressive striker of the ball. In his bowling, the speed proved a bit too much for the fielders which left him stranded with 15 wickets from 80 overs bowled, averages 4.06. He's near the Top10 in the bowling ranking and batting wise averages 17.48.
The Captain
My performance with the bat could have been better, I averaged 20.56 with my highest (43) against Qui vive. Luckily I was happy putting myself down the order because there were many others keen to grab their chances. Bowling wise I think I did fairly well: bowled 88 overs, average 3.47 with 26 wickets (2nd highest of the league).
I achieved my target by committing every player to the team and making sure that they gave their best while playing attackingly. The bowlers were fierce and did their job for example, the first 5 matches we bundled the opposition out for around a 100. The batters showed their class as we scored and chased down scores of up and just under 200 in a few occasions. I think it's a well balanced team which eased through the matches.
