Dames 1 - Kampong
Kampong 158 all out in 40.1 overs. ACC 159 for 8 wickets in 42.3 overs
What looked like a rainy day again with Kampong turned out decent enough. The third field was wet as we started setting up the field and were not looking forward to reschedule the game (yet again) with Kampong. By the starting time we had decent weather for sailing but we ended up playing some good cricket.
1st Inning
Kampong won the toss and decided to bat first and that we were quite happy as we wanted to field and chase. We have been good at chasing except for last few games, but who is counting!
Kampong lost their first wicket to Leslie caught on mid wicket by Natalie (can someone say payback time!) At this time Kampong was only at 5 runs. Second one followed in Rupal’s second over caught again by Natalie, she was trying to make up for Saturday. After that the middle batsman started to take few runs and steadily adding to there much needed total scores. Ingrid was in her form and had 53 when she was bowled by Rupal in what looked like Yorker (no bragging!). They did get lots of help from our Bowlers as there were quite a few extras. After they lost Ingrid’s and Esthers wicket it was all downhill for Kampong. Our fielding got better and bowling was tighter with not as many extras…
Nat 9/1/20/3, Rup 9/1/28/3, Les 6.1/0/30/1, Cath 2/0/17/1, Bev 7/0/27/1 and Mar 7/0/34/0.
Memorable moments:
“Ball is your friend”,
“Go for all out”,
“Can someone hold the darn scoreboard”,
“Natalie – 2 catches”,
“Drop shots are not good for your bowling arm”.
2nd Inning
ACC came to bat with lots of wind and bit cooler temperature but with our openers Inge and Inge no worries. Unfortunately we lost our first few wickets quickly, and it was starting to look like it was Saturday all over again in Harlem. Nirmala batted well with the highest score of 25. Saskia had a good innings of 18 runs. Rupal took the crease but after measly 8 runs was “LBW”. Cathy batted exceptionally blocking the good ones and hitting the bad ones. (Just like everyone else should have been doing) Cathy (6) and Natalie (17) had a good partnership of 13 runs. It was again looking pretty good for us. But Natalie was run out and her fault was she was only trying to add to the total or maybe dancing ‘til the early hours in the morning. Well, after that Beverly our most experience player with one beautiful four over mid off took us closer to our destination. It was looking like they were going to finish the job but unfortunately lost Cathy’s wicket. At the end Lizette and Beverly did finish it. Too bad that winning run came from a NO Ball. But hey that is cricket.
Memorable moments:
“Can someone hold DARN scoreboard AGAIN”,
“Ball is still your friend”,
“Sailing would have been so much better”,
“Bookings”,
“Leg umpires - No Balls – did someone hear me”,
“Did anyone bring sweater?”
