[door Jan Balk] Tijdens deze prachtige sportzomer zijn er schitterende evenementen zoals het WK cricket voor vrouwen, het WK voetbal, de Tour de France en Wimbledon. Maar geen evenement is uiteraard zo mooi als de uitzwaaiwedstrijd van het ACC Touring Team tegen het Andy Hore XI, dat nota bene komende zondag 12 juli om 15.00 uur plaatsvindt op ACC. Komt allen!
Andy Hore was 27 jaar geleden een fantastische professional bij ACC. Wij ontmoetten Andy voor de eerste keer tijdens de tour naar Eastcote waar hij zich ter voorbereiding op ons seizoen op de ochtend van onze eerste tourwedstrijd aansloot bij het tourgezelschap van ACC 1. De eerste vraag die Andy destijds vroeg was of hij voor de wedstrijd wellicht al een biertje mocht bestellen. Sindsdien hebben wij Andy in ons hart gesloten.
Charisma
Tijdens het seizoen bleek Andy ook nog eens een geweldige speler/coach te zijn. De jeugd liep met hem weg dankzij zijn 6 six s’s (stance, sholders straight, step, strike, six!) en geweldige charisma. Daarnaast was hij nooit te beroerd om wat later in te gaan om de andere spelers een kans te geven waardoor we dat jaar weer eens vooral op eigen kracht promoveerden naar de Hoofdklasse oftewel de huidige Topklasse.
Andy is in juli op doorreis naar Edinburgh, waar hij Nieuw-Zeeland zal gaan vertegenwoordigen tijdens het WK voor over de 50 jaar. Maar eerst is het dus komende zondag op 12 juli tijd voor een T20 op ACC tussen het ACC Touring Team en het Andy Hore XI. Absolute wereldsterren zoals Michael Dukker, Marc Nota, Sean Walsh, Sean Elicott Ramesh Sripatnala, Richard Wolfe, Lotte Heerkens, Joost Bakker, Michiel Verhaar, Bas van der Heyde, Rehan Younis, Tristan de Man, Jake White, Antoni Janssen, Sheraz Bhatti, Shah Mirza, Sanjay, Guy Pathak, Mushaf Mian, Paul Hagebeuk, Jan Balk en natuurlijk Andy Hore zelf zullen waarschijnlijk in actie komen. Komt allen! De toegang is volledig gratis en er is plek voor werkelijk iedereen. Het streven is sowieso om na afloop van het duel te zorgen voor de leukste derde innings ooit!

Come to ACC on Sunday for the highlight of this wonderful summer of sport
This marvellous sporting summer has seen some brilliant events, such as the Women’s Cricket World Cup, the Football World Cup, the Tour de France and Wimbledon. But of course, no event is quite as special as the ACC Touring Team’s farewell match against the Andy Hore XI, which, incidentally, takes place this coming Sunday, 12 July, at 3.00 pm at ACC. Do come along, everyone!
Andy Hore was a fantastic professional at ACC 27 years ago. We first met Andy during the tour to Eastcote, where, in preparation for our season, he joined the ACC 1 tour party on the morning of our first tour match. The first question Andy asked at the time was whether he might order a beer before the match. We’ve held Andy close to our hearts ever since.
Charisma
During the season, Andy also proved to be a brilliant player-coach. The youngsters were captivated by him thanks to his ‘6 sixes’ (stance, shoulders straight, step, strike, six!) and his incredible charisma. What’s more, he was never one to shy away from coming on a bit later to give the other players a chance, which meant that, once again that year, we secured promotion to the Hoofdklasse – now known as the Topklasse – largely through our own efforts.
Andy will be passing through Edinburgh in July, where he will represent New Zealand at the World Cup for the over-50s. But first, this coming Sunday, 12 July, it’s time for a T20 at the ACC between the ACC Touring Team and the Andy Hore XI. Absolute world stars such as Michael Dukker, Marc Nota, Sean Walsh, Sean Elicott, Ramesh Sripatnala, Richard Wolfe, Lotte Heerkens, Joost Bakker, Michiel Verhaar, Bas van der Heyde, Rehan Younis, Tristan de Man, Jake White, Antoni Janssen, Sheraz Bhatti, Shah Mirza, Sanjay, Guy Pathak, Mushaf Mian, Paul Hagebeuk, Jan Balk and, of course, Andy Hore himself are all likely to be in action. Come along, everyone! Admission is completely free and there’s room for absolutely everyone. Our aim is to ensure that, after the match, we have the best third innings ever!
