When did you start playing cricket?
I started when I was 8 years old.
What are your strong points as a batsman?
Always like to come out with intent and put bowlers under pressure and to read the situation and adapt to it.
What are your strong points as a bowler and what type of a bowler are you?
I am a medium-fast bowler. Strong points I would say that I swing the ball and can think of plans to get batsmans out and set plans for different type of batters.
Who is your idol and why?
My Parents are my idols. Just the way they work so hard to give me the best opportunity to make my dreams a reality and just the support they give me.
What are the professions of your parents?
My dad is a medical doctor and my mom is a biokoneticist.
For which club did you play your last season back home and how did it go?
I played in The Netherlands for Groen & Wit and then I played in New Zealand for Pukekohe Metro CC near Auckland.
Does sport run in the family, have you got any family members who are good in sport?
We love sport. It has always been part of my life. My dad played provincial rugby in South Africa and New Zealand. My mom was a provincial hockey player in South Africa. My oldest sister is an Olympic shotput athlete and my middle sister was rated among the 30 best u18 netball players in South Africa.
What are your hobbies?
Working with my hands and doing woodwork.
How did you come in contact with ACC?
I know Ben van der Merwe and he put me in contact with ACC.
What is your favorite dinner?
Steak and chips.
What do you like about the Netherlands?
The fact that you can walk or ride your bike everywhere and good views.
What is until now the highlight of your career?
Being the top run scorer in the Hoofdklasse and 7th on the bowling list.
Scoring 100 in a final for Pukekohe Metro.
Can you describe the place where you live back home?
I live in Welkom, South Africa. Very flat and LOTS of sunshine.
Have you got any brothers and sisters and what are they doing?
I have 2 older sisters. The eldest is studying Psychology at the University of Nebraska in USA and my middle sister is studying Biokinetics at the North West University in Potchefstroom, South Africa.
Do you play any other sports and why do you like them?
For now I just play golf. When I was still in school I played rugby and tennis. I love playing golf with my mates and get my mind away from cricket.
How old are you?
19.
Which sport clubs do you support and why?
Cricket wise I love the blackcaps and Chenai Super Kings.
Have you got any advice for young kids who want to become good cricketers?
Always strive to be better than yesterday.
Who was your best coach and why?
Ian O’Neill. He was my primary school coach. He had the ability to correct a flaw or mistake in one practice and kept pushing me to be the best I can be.
What are your goals for coming season at ACC?
To be the best cricketer and club member I can be and hopefully help ACC win another title.
Can you describe your own character, what are your strong and weak points?
I am very driven towards what I want and my goals in life and never give up. Honesty and loyalty are my strong points but think I can work on my patience.
What are your ambitions as a cricket player?
Without a doubt to play international cricket (and hopefully T20 franchise tournaments).
Are you studying or working next to cricket?
No I am not studying or working. At this point it is just cricket.
What is your favorite movie and why?
Hacksaw Ridge. No one gave him a chance but in the end he kept going and saved so many lives. Just reminds you to never give up even when people are doubting you.
What is your favorite book and why?
Neil Wagner’s book.
What do you like the most about your own country and why?
The culture that SA have and the food is the best.
Which country do you like the most besides your home country and why?
New Zealand. The people are so nice and will help you at any time. Views and landscape is so beautiful.
Why do you love cricket?
Just love how there is always a battle going on and you can never give up or get happy before the game is done.
Can you describe your cricket career until now?
It has been up and down. Lots of happy and sad moments but enjoyed it and learned a lot out of all of it.
Where do you want to be and what do you want to do in about ten year from now?
Want to play international cricket and make an impact on younger children
