ACC 4 - Sixth win in a row

by Vijay Gomatam

ACC 4 wins a vital match against Que Vive 4 last Sunday” Last Sunday on the 3rd of July ACC 4 continued its winning ways by beating Que Vive 4. A team that sits on top of the league 3 tables. The match was played ACC ground 2 - a venue known for its verdant, green surroundings. The day was full of sunshine which made for a great day of cricket. ACC batted first with its regular openers - the ball was swinging and cutting at the seam at a decent pace so it was not an easy start for ACC 4. Que Vive bowlers were very confident and we lost our our first wicket - the consistent Ankush Trikha four Nought. Vijay and Mayank then steadied the innings with Mayank infusing pace and flair to the scoring rate - making batting look really easy. The score was quickly in the 70s with Mayank playing delectable cuts and drives. We lost Vijay to an to an LBW in the 70s. That is when Shankar joined. Shankar brought his characteristic hustle to the crease - quick singles and a fast scoring rate. In quick time we were at 140 - that is when we lost Mayank for an extremely attractive and fast paced 77. Shankar followed soon scoring a well compiled 36. Things did not go as per plan for ACC after that. We lost a heap of wickets - from 148 for 2 to 198 for 9 in 40 overs. Mainly thanks to a rearguard effort from Axaya and Siddharth. it ALL now depended on our vaunted bowling attack - much celebrated as one of the strongest attacks in the league - 198 was a competitive target but not a winning one!

ACC4's bowling attack came through - Ankush opened the attack along with girish. Que vive’s batting crumbled with one inspired spell of bowling after the other - first it was girish with the opening wicket and then many lost chances later, Ankush came back into the attack grabbed a return catch which changed the tide of match. Axaya took two very important wickets in a bowling spell which was fast, accurate and full of heart! Girish followed up with more wickets to end up with a four wicket haul. Vivek Tiwari bowled, swinging the ball prodigiously (giving away some wides in the process!) but his swing was difficult to handle for the batsmen. he got 2 more wickets! By the time Ankush came back to take the last wicket - we had had four amazing spells of bowling that broke the spine of Que Vive batting. In the final analysis we won by over 40 runs! chalking up a famous win! This season has really opened up for ACC 4 with us still having a chance to top the table! so its onwards and upwards for ACC 4 from here!
