Ons eigen ACC 1 was op 2 het succesvolle openings paar van vorige week (Burnett/McInerney) kwijt, waarna met 55/5 ook hier een kleine ramp in de maak leek te zijn.
Maar ACC herpakte zich door een prachtige stand van 83 runs voor het 6e wicket tussen de 18-jarige Shreyas Potdar (62*) en Rameh Babu (ex Bloemendaal, 56). Daarvoor had alleen Jamie Mulready (eveneens 18 jaar) met 21 runs iets van betekenis laten zien. In de staart brachten Kothari (9), Shoaib (10) en Brouwer (ex Ajax L. 9) samen met 19 extras het eind totaal toch nog op 196 a.o. Steffen Mulder was met 5/33/10 de meest succesvolle Voorburgse bowler.
Opmerkelijk was, dat de na de eerste wedstrijd gedropte K. Hosur er in het 2e prompt 111 not out maakte en derhalve duidelijk naar een retourtje 1e elftal solliciteerde.
VCC had weinig moeite met onze aanval en bracht 95 runs op het bord alvorens Raza opener Pieterse gebowled kreeg. En er gebeurde opeens nog veel meer, want met nog eens 4 wickets voor 12 runs leek ACC bij een stand van 107/5 plots weer in de running te zijn voor een goed resultaat.
Maar het was vooral Philippe Boissevain (65*) die onze aanval klein kreeg en in de 44e over met de winning hit het uiteindelijk ronde getal van 200/6 liet optekenen. Dus winst voor VCC. Na een hopeloze ochtend stand had ACC dapper teruggevochten. Er werden 8 bowlers gebruikt, waarvan slechts de helft succes had: D. Arya 1/37/10, S. Kothari 2/28/10, A. Raza 2/23/8 en S. Potdar 1/27/3.4.
Volgende week zondag 19 juli nieuwe kansen tegen Sparta thuis. De vooruitzichten voor het weer zijn zeer positief - dus mensen: kom naar ACC op het Loopveld!
