Rens v. Troost werd met 48 runs topscorer.Wickettakers: Kothari 3/26/8, M. v.Vliet 2/41/8, Raza 1/44/8, Zaidi 2/26/6. Gelegenheids wicketkeeper Abel Heijmeijer maakte 2 goede vangen.

English translation

How ACC1 fared in half a 'Corona-season'

[by Observer] The season ended last week for our flagship, in the last away match of the half Corona Competition, against Excelsior in Schiedam. No ball could be bowled on the drenched field.

It was agreed to still play a friendly on Sunday, September 6. A good idea, but we had to deal with the absence of a handful of permanent employees, namely Cameron Burnett, Chris Knoll, Ram Ramesh, Antony Napoleon and Jamie Mulready. The latter is going to study in England, so that was quite a half of our "young team in training."

Excelsior (see opening photo), almost complete, was allowed to bat in the 40 over match and came to 180/8. I.e. 155 self-scored runs and 33 extras as a gift, of which 28 wides! Rens v. Troost became top scorer with 48 runs. Wickettakers: Kothari 3/26/8, M. v. Vliet 2/41/8, Raza 1/44/8, Zaidi 2/26/6. Occasional wicket-keeper Abel Heijmeijer made 2 good catches.

The following lunch was as always well taken care of.

We can be brief about the ACC innings: 79 all out of which ¾ extras ... Only R. Alves (24 *) and S. Kothari (11) managed to get the double figures.

A word of thanks to the hospitable Excelsior, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, is in order.

Review

Thus, the 2020 season ended for ACC with a shared place with HBS in the league in place 6/7: 8 played - 6 points. Undoubtedly, HCC was the best all-round team, finishing first. Dosti had little fun with 9 defeats!

But thanks to the emergency formula “no champions and no relegants,” as imposed by the circumstances, it was also possible to play freely. Our best bats (on average) were:

Bowling   At the bowlers, everyone seemed to have bowled. Devanshu Arya was the most successful with 11 wickets  for 259 runs in 68 overs and an econ.rate of 3.76. Mees v. Vliet with 9 wickets then had the most wickets, but was with econ. rate of 5.03 significantly more expensive (wides!). Then 3 bowlers (Zaidi, Raza, McInerney) each took 6 wickets and Chris Knoll 5.   Even though it was only half a competition, under very summery conditions, everything and more had to be arranged every week, in order for this practically totally new team to function. Fortunately, we had a team committee that knew the luxury of a large squad, which led to you risking your place if not trained (eg vacation). Coach Taku and Ernst Pieter attended all games. As for so many years, EP was team leader, which meant, among other things: sometimes taking care of / supplying the tired players, but usually a fixed scorer all day long! TRIBUTE.
That tribute also goes to the Technical Leader of our first Mark Mulready (father of Jamie), and, along with Taku and Raza, a member of the TC of ACC1. Not only is he known for his knowledge of cricket, very useful in such a youthful selection, Mark also attended all training sessions and occasionally helped out with fielding training. Then he insists on commitment, on goals and evaluations of players, something that the youngsters will be confronted with more and more in the coming season.

A word of thanks is also welcome for our umpire corps. Standing 100 overs in the black suit at 30+ degrees is no mean feat. Isn't that possible in the old-fashioned white coat? Or should the screen be white again?

A word of appreciation to the team of TopKlasse Live Blog is also appropriate. Bertus de Jong and Rod Lyall took care of the prospects and progress during the current matches every week. Telephone calls were continuously made along each boundary to check the state of the competition. Sander Tholen took a thousand and one beautiful action photos. Keep going guys; it is much appreciated.

Finally, a word of appreciation to the editor of this ACC site viz. Michael v. Os. Fortunately, he has several writers who submit their stories with photos every week, separate from his own photos. Printing the scoring book on Sunday evening tells the story of the first early on. With a lot of energy he has made the ACC site one of the best maintained club sites in cricketing Netherlands. Chapeau! We look forward to 2021 when our club hopes to celebrate its 100th anniversary. We don't know what the world will look like then, but it will be better than expected. Until then.

PS From the Editor: And also a tribute to the match reports of Observer, our never-stopping young Honorary President!
